What began as a routine drive to the hospital quickly turned into an unforgettable experience for 29-year-old Emily Torres, who was en route to NYU Langone Medical Center with her husband, Miguel, when traffic came to a standstill due to a multi-car accident ahead.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were ten minutes away from the hospital,\u201d said Miguel. \u201cThen everything just stopped. Emily suddenly grabbed my hand and said, \u2018It\u2019s happening now.\u2019 I panicked\u2014but she didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the guidance of the 911 dispatcher and Lee\u2019s expert hands, Emily gave birth to a healthy baby girl right there in the back seat of their car, surrounded by honking horns, flashing lights\u2014and the kindness of strangers.<\/p>\n

Witnesses described the scene as \u201csurreal\u201d and \u201cbeautiful.\u201d Some even stepped out of their cars to hold up blankets and coats, creating a makeshift privacy shield. Others offered water, towels, and words of encouragement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was like everyone forgot about their own problems for a moment,\u201d said one commuter. \u201cWe were all just\u2026 human.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paramedics arrived about 12 minutes after the birth and transported both Emily and her newborn\u2014named\u00a0Brooklyn Grace<\/strong>, in honor of her unique birthplace\u2014to the hospital. Both mother and child are reported to be in perfect health.<\/p>\n

The New York City Department of Transportation later posted a message on social media congratulating the family:
